WE ARE DROPPING THE BOMB: Yes, TOXIKK WILL BE FREE! Earlier today, Martin Schwiezer (head of Reakktor Studios) announced the dramatic change of TOXIKK’s business model in an interview with STEVE McKARNICK of PC-PLAYDAY.
Steve: | “Martin, what made you change Toxikk’s business model to Free to Play?” |
Martin: | “You really got that wrong, Steve. Toxikk will NOT be F2P. It will be FREE! I think that’s important to point out.” |
Steve: | “Like… people can play for free? Totally free?” |
Martin: | “That’s right. Totally free.” |
Steve: | “What will you tell the people who already bought the game in Early Access?” |
Martin: | “Well, these people can now download an unlimited amount of ADDITIONAL, totally FREE copies!” |
Steve: | “And there will be no item shop in Toxikk?” |
Martin: | “Yes… I mean, (laughs) …No. Well, there will be an item shop. But you don’t need to buy anything.” |
Steve: | “How is it not free to play then?” |
Martin: | “Well, it is not … Not in the traditional way. It’s FREE! You cannot compete against FREE, Steve.” |

Martin: | “We not only sell our own awesome virtual goods, but also let players sell and re-sell their stuff (and take a cut of whatever they trade).” |
